About Equine Osteopathy

edo-logo1

Equine Osteopathy is the specific application of the principles and standards developed in the human osteopathy, translatedĀ adapted and modified to the special structural and fysical needs of the equine.

It is the art of assessing selfcorrection on the part of the organism through manual access and stimulation of the whole system, to mount its defense and draw from its own reserves, calling forth a selfcorrective re-harmonizing response to find health and balance within the concept of function and structure, based on the scientific knowledge of the behaviour of the anatomic and fysiologic systems.

The French veterinarian Dominique Giniaux is widelyWHATtheHORSESbooks
accepted as one of the first persons to apply osteopathy, as known to that time,
to the horses and therefore considered the founder of the Equine Osteopathy.

Pascal Evrard DO. combined and further developed the known principles and techniques to a structural and applicable method.
Through addition of the visceral concept in relation with the autonomic and cranio sacral system of the horse, developed by Janek Vluggen DO. MRO. EDOĀ®, equine osteopathy developed into an independent complementary specialization, succesfully thriving worldwide in conjunction with the veterinary medicine.
